OrderMyGear, a leading e-commerce platform for branded merchandise, expanded from pop-up shops into permanent online storefronts, revealing limitations in their existing storefront design system. To maintain a competitive edge and improve user engagement, OMG undertook a complete redesign of its storefront creation experience, with the dual goals of empowering store creators and delivering a premium shopping experience to customers.
The design process began with stakeholder interviews, user interviews, and contextual inquiries to uncover business objectives, user needs, and workflow pain points. Insights from this research informed workflow mapping and wireframing, which identified opportunities to simplify and streamline the storefront creation process. Iterative design explorations focused on creating an efficient, intuitive interface that supports flexible template selection, promotional banner creation, and category ad placement.
The resulting Storefront Designer enables store creators to build modern, engaging storefronts with confidence, providing end users with a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience. The redesign strengthened OrderMyGear's market position by leading the UX/UI redesign of premium storefront layouts focused on reducing shopper bounce rates, implementing an intuitive visual-based store designer with drag-and-drop functionality for quick customization by users with limited design skills, and driving 12% growth in early-quarter release subscriptions.
